September 15 marked the start of Hispanic Heritage month which runs through October 15. This celebration of Latinx culture began in 1968 under president Johnson, and Ronal Reagan extended it to a full month. Ever since then it has been a tradition celebrated annually. In theory, it is a time where one celebrates and honors the achievements of Hispanic Americans. However, Latinx live their culture and carry their pride everyday.
Despite the celebration, we are living under the most anti-Hispanic administration in modern history. Donald Trump's antipathy towards this community has been well-documented. Based on a study by the Pew Research Center, this has caused Latinos to have serious concerns about their place in the United States under Trump than under past administration. Many have agreed that it has become more difficult to live as a latino in the U.S. in recent years.
Hispanics are rightfully feeling fearful and targeted because of their ethnicity. Even though, this community believes they feel less welcomed in this country, many have shown to continue fiercely believe in a country that doesn't always believe in them which is the greatest act of resistance of all.

The End of the American Dream?
Andrew Yang, a 44year older entrepreneur, who is one of 10 candidates who made the cut for the democratic third presidential debate spoke about the American Dream in an interview with CBS. He expressed how he loves the idea the American Dream because he lived it with his family. His family immigrated, however when he was asked if he still believed in the American Dream still he said he was a numbers guy. Apparently based on the numbers it says that you have a 50/50 chance of doing better than your parents if you were born in the 90's. That chance use to be 93% if you were born in the 40's or 50's, so the American Dream is dying. Andrew Yang blames a lot of this on the rise of AI and automation. He thinks immigrants are being scapegoated for economic problems that there is that has nothing to do with immigration, but automation. He believes this will lead to wide spread disappear.
